Broken Skies (Microfiction)

Tonight is cold. Sunshine seeps deep into the earth; as darkness comes the sky starts to freeze. Moonlight, starlight glistening, white flowers begin their journey, floating down to the surface. The rose lies outside forgotten, wilted, broken; the last of its life dying, the last of its petals crushed.

Hearts entwined they once were, lovers they are no more.
