escapril, day 2

and so we balter along the shore
just like before, where the waves fumble and tumble
onto the sand shifting beneath our feet, and we feel the faintest
rumble of the earth quivering underneath the weight of the sea.

stand still for a single moment, let the water reach past your ankles
and pull itself back into the deep. let your feet sink into the grains,
let them bury themselves into the small bits of seashell
as we sink into the center of the earth.

here, at this line where the land meets the sea, 
where the moon pulls the tides and the sun sears the sand,
it feels as if we are standing at the center of the world.
